Conor McGregor Pulls Out of UFC White House Event

Conor McGregor has officially announced that he will not be participating in the upcoming UFC event at the White House.

Initially rumored to headline the fight against Michael Chandler on President Donald Trump’s front lawn on June 14, McGregor is now anticipated to make his return to the octagon in July. UFC CEO Dana White is set to reveal the lineup for the White House card, but McGregor’s name is expected to be absent, with his comeback fight scheduled for July 11.

Speaking to Smash Cast, McGregor expressed his enthusiasm for the White House event but acknowledged the decision to postpone his fight to a later date. He praised Chandler’s skills and sportsmanship, revealing that he had been preparing to face him for the past two years. Despite feeling somewhat disappointed, McGregor emphasized his eagerness to return to action and hinted at a potential matchup during International Fight Week.

McGregor also disclosed his intention to compete at welterweight for his next bout, citing his increased size and readiness to take on any opponent offered to him. While awaiting a formal contract, McGregor’s manager is in Las Vegas for negotiations in hopes of securing a favorable deal.

With McGregor’s absence, the headline for the White House card may feature Jon Jones making his return to the cage, possibly facing former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205lb title.
