A firefighter who has been found guilty of rape once made disturbing comments about Stockholm being the “most unreported rape capital of Europe,” suggesting it would be worth visiting. Terence Crosbie, 39, was convicted of raping a 29-year-old woman during St Patrick’s Day celebrations in March 2024 after a trial at Suffolk Superior Court in Boston. He may face up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing.
Crosbie, using the now-deleted alias “DubKid86,” posted a tweet implying that traveling to a city known for unreported rapes would be worth it. Although the prosecution tried to introduce this tweet as evidence, it was ultimately ruled inadmissible. The tweet was written seven years prior and was not directly related to the case in Boston.
Despite the lack of this particular evidence, the prosecution argued that the tweet could shed light on Crosbie’s mindset and intentions. Nevertheless, the court deemed the tweet irrelevant to the current case.
Additional online posts from Crosbie’s account revealed concerning behavior leading up to his arrest. These posts included a photo of him smoking a cigar with whiskey, as well as a video he shared about men in different eras. Shortly before his arrest, he had entered a competition to win flights to Boston.
Crosbie’s trial in Boston ended in a guilty verdict after extensive deliberations. He was arrested just after being interviewed by Boston detectives and attempting to board a flight to Dublin. The victim testified that she had consensual sex with someone she thought was Crosbie’s roommate, only to wake up to being raped by another man. Despite his denial, DNA evidence did not definitively link Crosbie to the crime.
The prosecution presented video evidence during the trial and urged jurors to consider the facts. They emphasized that Crosbie was responsible for a terrible act and should be held accountable for his actions.
