Bernie Ecclestone recently offloaded a yacht named in honor of his daughters, Petra and Tamara, following his wife Fabiana’s revelation that they only used it for eight days annually. Another smaller yacht belonging to the Formula 1 figurehead, docked in Ibiza, is also on the market, contrasting with the “Petara,” located in Croatia.
During an interview on his 95th birthday, Ecclestone shared that the yacht had been sold, as confirmed by Fabiana, who stated, “We only used it for eight days a year. We don’t require such a large vessel for such limited use.”
Earlier this year, Ecclestone also parted ways with his collection of F1 cars, selling them to Red Bull co-owner Mark Mateschitz for approximately £550 million. This transaction came after settling with HMRC for over £500 million due to undeclared overseas assets worth £400 million.
Despite these sales, Ecclestone and his family maintain a net worth exceeding £1.8 billion, according to Forbes. Alongside his third wife Fabiana and their five-year-old son Ace, Ecclestone resides in Gstaad, Switzerland.
Regarding his birthday celebration, Ecclestone mentioned, “My daughters wanted a big party. I prefer flying with Fabi and Ace to my ranch in Brazil.”
Ecclestone’s eldest daughter, Deborah, visited him in Gstaad before his birthday, turning 70 recently. Fabiana reflected on their relationship, stating, “We’ve been married for 13 years, together for 16. Our parenting of Ace is going smoothly.”
Describing their joint approach to parenting, Ecclestone added, “Bernie and I are a team, raising Ace as a team. We manage his screen time by setting limits and encouraging his academic responsibilities.”
Fabiana noted the challenges of modern parenting, saying, “It’s a struggle to regulate Ace’s screen time when his peers have more access. We plan to introduce his first cell phone between ages 12 and 14.”
Ecclestone praised Ace, stating, “He’s bright, intelligent, and remarkable. I foresee no bounds to his potential.”
Fabiana shared, “Ace began skiing at two. Unlike many children his age, he enjoys a variety of foods, with sushi being his favorite.”
