For comparison purposes, I also purchased a bag of Cadbury’s Mini Eggs. Despite some differences in pack sizes, I found one alternative that surpassed even the original in taste. I plan to stock up on this particular brand before Easter arrives.
Starting with the Cadbury Mini Eggs, I enjoyed their familiar taste and texture. The sugary aroma upon opening the packet was enticing, and the combination of crispy shell and smooth chocolate center was delightful. As Easter approaches, these sought-after treats may become harder to find in stores.
Moving on to Asda’s own-brand Mini Eggs, I found them to be a more budget-friendly option at £1.40 per 100g, though they lacked the premium quality and distinctive flavor of the original Cadbury version. While they weren’t the worst, they didn’t quite match up to my expectations, earning a rating of 2.5/5.
Next, the Mister Choc Mini Eggs offered a budget-friendly alternative at £1.15 for 80g, but their texture was a bit unexpected. Although the taste was decent, it didn’t compare to the authentic Cadbury Mini Eggs, receiving a score of one out of five.
Aldi and Lidl’s versions were similar in taste and texture, providing a more accessible option than the branded Mini Eggs. However, the Choceur Mini Eggs from Aldi, priced at £3.39 for 256g, fell short in terms of flavor and richness, earning a rating of two out of five.
I recently tried M&S’ speckled egg biscuits and chocolate bars, which had caught my attention on social media. The M&S Mini Eggs impressed me with their size, glossy appearance, and well-balanced chocolate-to-shell ratio. The filling melted in my mouth and was highly addictive, surpassing the Cadbury Mini Eggs in some aspects. Priced at £1.79 for a 90g bag, they offer a solid alternative to the branded version.
In conclusion, M&S’ Mini Eggs stood out as a top contender, earning a perfect five-star rating from me. I am excited to explore more of M&S’ Easter creations and look forward to trying their other offerings.
