Just Eat Takeaway.com, an on-demand delivery service, has announced the closure of its Menulog operations in Australia due to difficult circumstances. The Australian online food and beverage ordering app and delivery service, Menulog, will cease operations on Wednesday, November 26. Originally founded in 2006 and acquired by Just Eat in 2015, Menulog became part of Just Eat Takeaway.com in 2020.
In a statement, the company acknowledged Menulog’s 20-year history but cited the need to focus on growth in other markets to enhance the overall customer experience. This decision will affect around 120 employees who will receive generous redundancy packages and outplacement support.
Just Eat Takeaway.com operates in various countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Menulog, known for its celebrity-endorsed advertisements featuring stars like Christina Aguilera and Snoop Dogg, will honor its services until November 26, 23:59 AEDT.
Morten Belling, Managing Director of Menulog, expressed the difficulty of the decision and emphasized the focus on supporting customers, couriers, and partners during the transition. The platform will remain active for a two-week period for customers to redeem vouchers and credits, with eligible couriers receiving a voluntary payment over four weeks. Belling extended gratitude to all who have been part of Menulog’s journey.
