“MP Faces Backlash Over False Funding Claims for Boxing Club”

A member of Parliament from Reform UK faces allegations of making false claims regarding securing funding for a local boxing club in her constituency. Sarah Pochin stated in a now-deleted social media video that she had assisted Runcorn Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) in obtaining financial support to aid the youth in the community.

However, ABC has refuted these assertions, stating they have not received any funding from Reform. The club demanded an apology from the MP and emphasized its apolitical nature as a charity. Additionally, ABC clarified that Ms. Pochin had not obtained permission to film at their facilities.

Despite local media reports, Ms. Pochin later clarified that the funding she referenced was actually secured for Diverse Sports Runcorn (DSR) and not for ABC directly. She acknowledged that the funding was sustained through existing resources allocated for the following year.

The club reiterated its stance of non-alignment with political parties and emphasized that they had not received the financial assistance mentioned by Ms. Pochin. The situation brought about confusion and prompted the MP to retract her initial claims in subsequent social media posts.

This incident highlights the importance of accurate communication and transparency in dealings involving charitable organizations and political figures.
