“London Police Arrest Three in Suspected Russian Spy Plot”

Three individuals, aged 44, 45, and 48, have been apprehended by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of aiding Russia’s intelligence service. The arrests took place in west and central London following operations conducted by Counter Terrorism Policing detectives on Thursday. The suspects are currently under police custody after being detained under section 3 of the National Security Act.

Commander Dominic Murphy, who leads Counter Terrorism Policing in London, emphasized the growing trend of recruiting individuals as ‘proxies’ by foreign intelligence agencies. He stated that these arrests are part of continuous efforts to disrupt such illicit activities. Murphy warned individuals against engaging in criminal acts on behalf of foreign states within the UK, highlighting the severe legal repercussions that could follow prosecution for involvement in such activities.
