Celebrity Joe Marler, known for his role in the popular show Traitors, recently opened up about his experience on the BBC program, admitting to feeling out of his element. The former England rugby star traded his cleats for a Scottish castle alongside other famous faces like Kate Garraway, Jonathan Ross, and Clare Balding.
Despite his storied rugby career with nearly 100 appearances for his country, Marler confessed to feeling uneasy when trying to explain his background to his fellow Traitors cast members. In a podcast hosted by Jamie Laing, Marler expressed discomfort in navigating a world outside of rugby, where not everyone was familiar with his sporting achievements.
Reflecting on his introduction to the show, Marler recounted encounters where people were unaware of his rugby background, prompting him to clarify his past involvement and the nuances between different rugby formats. The filming for the show reportedly concluded in May, with the final episode scheduled to air on November 6.
Marler expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the show, labeling it as one of the greatest experiences of his life. Having made significant contributions to English rugby and achieving accolades like an appearance in the 2019 World Cup final, Marler has diversified his endeavors beyond the field. Apart from releasing his autobiography titled “Loose Head, Confessions of an (un)professional rugby player,” he has ventured into podcasting with “Joe Marler’s Things People Do” and appeared on various TV shows, including The Wheel.
