An altercation between a mother and her son took a tragic turn as the young boy fatally stabbed his parent. The nine-year-old child allegedly attacked his 37-year-old mother during a dispute over his behavior, resulting in her death.
Witnesses reported that the mother, Caline Arruda dos Santos, requested a final hug from her son after he stabbed her in the abdomen. Prior to the incident, Caline had asked her son to stop playing in the street.
Following a warning from Caline to inform a relative about the boy’s behavior, he retrieved a knife from the kitchen and concealed it in his clothing. He then approached his mother and stabbed her in the presence of her eldest son.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Caline succumbed to her injuries upon arrival. The boy, being under 12 years old, was not taken into police custody as he cannot be prosecuted by the Children’s Court. Currently, he is under the care of a relative of the victim.
In a statement, the relative mentioned that the boy seems unaware of the gravity of his actions, only realizing his mother’s death after being informed by someone else. The incident occurred on Rua Gaspar Leme in Parelheiros, south of Sao Paolo, and is currently under investigation by the Civil Police.
In a separate case, a 17-year-old named Sarah Patrick was charged with the murder of her mother and stepfather in Georgia, USA. Despite initial demeanor in court, Sarah later displayed emotional distress during testimonies from acquaintances and family members. She was arrested after her younger sister discovered the bodies of their parents and subsequently sought help from authorities and social media influencers.
Sarah Patrick faces charges as an adult for two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault, with her trial scheduled for January 5, 2026.
