“Tragic Hot Tub Incident Claims Life of 18-Month-Old”

An 18-month-old named Azariah tragically drowned after her father fell asleep in a hot tub while holding her, according to authorities. The incident occurred at an Airbnb in Florida on December 13, where the father, Reynard Tyrone Hough, had taken his family for a trip from Washington DC.

Hough fell asleep for about 15 to 20 minutes in the hot tub and discovered his daughter unresponsive upon waking up, as reported by the Osceola County Sheriff’s office. Despite his attempts to perform CPR, Azariah was pronounced dead around 4:30am that day. Hough admitted to consuming alcohol and two different narcotics before getting in the hot tub with his daughter, with detectives suggesting that these substances played a role in him falling asleep.

Following the tragic incident, Hough was arrested and charged with child neglect causing great bodily harm and manslaughter by aggravated abuse of a child. He is currently being held in the Osceola County Jail.

Azariah’s aunt, Angel, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, emphasizing the family’s devastation and fond memories of the little girl. A heartfelt obituary from Peoples Funeral Home described Azariah as a talkative and beloved child who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Captain Kim Montes of the sheriff’s office highlighted the dangers of children being near water, stressing the importance of parental vigilance and sobriety to ensure child safety. The sheriff’s office also extended sympathy to Azariah’s parents, acknowledging the emotional toll of the tragedy on the family.
