Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden provided an update on her battle with cancer following recent health concerns. During an appearance on The Dr Hilary Show podcast, Amy expressed her relief at being in remission but revealed that doctors had discovered abnormalities in her other breast.
Diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32 in May 2023, Amy missed participating in that year’s Strictly season to undergo chemotherapy and a mastectomy. Despite facing challenges, Amy’s resilience and courage have inspired many in her fight against the disease.
Speaking about her experiences, Amy mentioned undergoing biopsies and the need to make significant decisions due to a family history of breast cancer. Additionally, she shared the emotional toll of dealing with the disease and the pressure she felt to return to dancing.
Amy, who also battles Crohn’s disease, emphasized her determination to resume her life swiftly, even advocating for a double mastectomy to prevent a recurrence. She reflected on the uncertainty and fear she faced when confronted with an uncertain recovery timeline and the impact on her career and daily routine.
Although facing setbacks, Amy managed to make a comeback on the current series of Strictly. However, she and her dance partner, Thomas Skinner, were eliminated in the second week of the competition.
