A shooting incident led to a lockdown at a prominent shopping center in the United States. Authorities were called to Wolfchase Galleria Mall in Cordova, Memphis, Tennessee, after witnesses reported hearing several gunshots inside the premises. One individual was reportedly injured in the incident.
The Memphis Police Department spokesperson assured that the situation was contained and clarified that it was not an active shooter situation but rather an isolated incident. Various law enforcement units, including Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers, Shelby County sheriff’s deputies, and Memphis police officers, were present outside the mall near the Macy’s entrance.
Multiple agencies, including Tennessee Highway Patrol and Memphis Police, had a visible presence at the scene, with vehicles blocking the mall entrance. A shopper recounted hearing what seemed like gunshots upon exiting an elevator, prompting an immediate lockdown before safely leaving the mall.
Reports indicated that the suspect escaped in a white SUV, leading to the lifting of the mall lockdown upon the suspect’s departure. While there were claims from FOX13 that the victim succumbed to injuries, official confirmation was pending. The suspect was reportedly apprehended following the incident.
