SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the fines imposed on the ticket resale platform earlier this month amount to a total of $22,500.
The first fine, totaling $15,000, was issued for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating the sale of a seat at a price exceeding the resale price cap. The second fine of $7,500 was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the complete ticket price when a seat was purchased directly from the primary seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has provided immediate responses regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. This recent enforcement action follows previous fines totaling $25,000 issued to SeatGeek Canada in August for similar violations.
