A woman known as “Satan’s puppet” has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for breaking into her neighbor’s home, murdering her, and consuming her blood. Cynthia Ming, aged 54, initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity for the killing of Angie Melissa Moore, 45, on September 7, 2022. She later changed her plea to guilty and accepted a 50-year sentence deal from the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office.
Moore contacted 911 just before midnight on September 6, 2022, alerting the police that someone was trying to break into her house through a window. When officers arrived at the location on Whispering Ave, they found the victim naked, deceased, and covered in blood.
Ming attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police after being subdued with a Taser. She confessed to breaking into the victim’s home, taking a firearm from her possession, shooting her in the head, and drinking her blood as retaliation for Moore allegedly killing her dog, as reported by the Mirror US.
The defendant’s psychiatrist, Dr. Lee Carter, informed the court that Ming had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type.
Ming claimed to Dr. Carter that she had been “electrocuted” by a live wire at her residence on the night of the murder, which caused her to act erratically. However, she maintained that she was in control of her actions during the crime.
Although Ming has been in custody since the incident, she could be eligible for parole in 25 years. Prosecutors believe it is unlikely she will receive a reduced sentence due to the severity of the offense.
Prosecutors Duncan Widmann and Luke McCowan stated that the plea agreement with Ming ensures a similar outcome as a capital murder conviction, without the risks associated with a trial and appeals process, particularly in cases involving claims of insanity.
Ming’s lawyer, Clay Thomas, expressed his willingness to proceed to trial but respected his client’s decision to accept the plea deal. He acknowledged that the final choice lies with the defendant, who must bear the consequences of her actions.
In emotional victim impact statements, Ming’s parents, Martha and Marvin Moore, described the devastating impact of their daughter’s absence on the family, including her son Conner, who referred to Ming as “Satan’s puppet.”
The parents revealed that Moore had endured years of harassment from Ming, whom they described as a “force of pure evil” residing across the street. They expressed their belief that Ming would face divine judgment for her actions.
During his testimony, Moore’s father directly addressed Ming, condemning her as a “cold-blooded murderer” and expressing his desire for her to spend the rest of her life in prison.
