A tragic incident occurred in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, where a woman lost her life due to a fake doctor’s botched kidney stone surgery attempt. The unlicensed practitioner, allegedly intoxicated, caused fatal injuries during the operation. The victim, Munishra Rawat, was taken to an unauthorized clinic on December 5 after suffering from severe stomach pain. Her husband, Fateh Bahadur, sought help from Shri Damodar Aushadhalaya, where Gyan Prakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra operated. Prakash diagnosed kidney stones and offered surgery for a reduced fee. Despite claiming to have assistance for the surgery, Prakash performed the procedure himself, claiming to have learned it from social media.
During the surgery, Prakash reportedly followed a YouTube tutorial video while under the influence. Tragically, he made severe cuts in Rawat’s abdomen, causing harm to her internal organs. The kidney stones were left untouched, and Rawat passed away the following day in excruciating pain. The clinic owners fled after the woman’s death, leaving behind a grieving husband and three young children.
Following a complaint by the husband, authorities investigated the clinic, conducted a post-mortem examination, and pressed charges against the owners for their negligence. The clinic has been shut down, and the owners are currently evading arrest, but police anticipate apprehending them soon. Senior police official Amit Singh Bhaduria confirmed the closure of the clinic and assured that the culprits would face legal consequences.
“We inspected the unauthorized clinic upon learning of the incident. It was found closed, and the accused are now fugitives. However, we are actively working to apprehend them,” stated Bhaduria.
