Vladimir Putin has conducted a successful test of a nuclear torpedo capable of causing devastation to vast coastlines, labeling it a significant achievement. This new weapon, similar to those held in the nuclear arsenals of the US and UK, has the potential to create radioactive tsunamis, rendering entire coastlines uninhabitable. Putin emphasized the success of launching the torpedo from a carrier submarine and activating its nuclear power unit. He described the test as unprecedented and a major triumph.
Named Poseidon, the torpedo’s power surpasses that of the Russian-developed Sarmat intercontinental missile, also known as Satan II. Putin highlighted the superior capabilities of Poseidon compared to the Sarmat missile. This test follows recent military demonstrations by Russia, including the launch of the “Flying Chernobyl.”
In a separate military development, Moscow’s top general confirmed the successful testing of an experimental cruise missile known as Burevestnik, dubbed “Skyfall” by NATO. General Valery Gerasimov stated that the missile, powered by a nuclear reactor, possesses the ability to evade missile and air defense systems, ensuring precision strikes on heavily fortified targets at any distance.
The recent tests are widely viewed as strategic messages, with the US President reacting to them in light of failed discussions over the conflict in Ukraine. President Trump referenced the positioning of a US nuclear submarine near Russian waters in response to the Russian military activities. Trump urged Putin to prioritize ending ongoing conflicts rather than engaging in missile tests.
