Norris & Piastri Disqualified from Las Vegas Grand Prix

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri faced a setback in their Formula One careers as they were disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix, landing them in an unfortunate group within the sport. Norris initially finished behind Max Verstappen, while Piastri secured a respectable fourth-place position.

The disqualification stemmed from a technical violation where both McLaren cars failed post-race inspections due to the thickness of the planks underneath being below the required 9mm limit by the race’s end. This discrepancy indicated that the cars had an unlawfully low ride height, resulting in their disqualification from the 22nd race of the 2025 season and leveling the points between Verstappen and Piastri with only three races remaining.

The reigning champion now trails Norris by just 24 points, setting the stage for an intense conclusion to the season. This disqualification marked the first for both Norris and Piastri in their F1 careers, joining a small group of drivers on the grid who have faced similar penalties. Earlier in the year, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc suffered a double disqualification, with Hamilton’s car failing to meet the required skid thickness regulations.

Meanwhile, Sky has introduced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming season, offering over 1,400 live matches across various leagues. The broadcast will include at least 215 live Premier League games, a significant increase from the previous season.

In a similar vein, Leclerc and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly faced disqualifications in the past due to weight-related issues, adding to Ferrari’s challenges. Nico Hulkenberg also experienced his first disqualification after a lengthy F1 career due to excessive skid block wear. Notably, George Russell lost his victory in the Belgian Grand Prix due to a minor weight discrepancy, promoting Hamilton to the top spot.

Each disqualification in F1 history brings its unique circumstances, and the sport continues to enforce strict regulations to maintain fairness and competitiveness.
