Tommy Fleetwood has expressed his approval of Brooks Koepka’s reentry into the PGA Tour, noting that LIV Golf has not shown interest in him during the postseason. Koepka recently left the Saudi-backed tour and will be participating in the Farmers Insurance Open next week, marking his return to the PGA Tour.
The move by Koepka has put pressure on LIV Golf to retain other notable players, with Patrick Reed hinting at a potential return as well. Fleetwood, currently ranked World No.3, praised the PGA Tour for its prestigious events and generous prize money, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete there.
Reflecting on his own ambitions, Fleetwood emphasized the importance of aligning goals with the tour one plays on. He highlighted the significance of playing where one can best pursue their dreams, a sentiment echoed by Koepka’s decision to return to the PGA Tour.
LIV Golf, supported by the Public Investment Fund, had made substantial investments in previous seasons, including lucrative deals with Koepka and Jon Rahm. This year, the signings have been less high-profile, with new additions like Victor Perez, Laurie Canter, and others.
Despite being a sought-after player, Fleetwood revealed that LIV Golf had not approached him recently, acknowledging the competitive landscape of player acquisitions. Meanwhile, Shane Lowry, Fleetwood’s Ryder Cup teammate, commended Koepka’s swift return to the PGA Tour, foreseeing a positive impact on the tour’s smaller events.
Lowry also shared his reflections on a recent tournament setback, emphasizing the need to move past disappointments and focus on future performances.
