Jockeys skillfully avoided a potential disaster during a recent horse race by swerving to dodge an unexpected ambulance that had entered the race track.
The incident, which took place at Evangeline Downs in the USA on Saturday night, prompted an immediate investigation into how the ambulance ended up on the course during race eight at 8:35 pm.
Traditionally, an ambulance follows horse races on the inside of the track to respond to any accidents involving horses or riders. However, in this unusual occurrence, the vehicle found its way onto the race course, forcing all eight participating horses to take evasive action around the first bend to prevent serious harm.
The shocking incident reverberated among fans of the sport worldwide, with renowned pundit Kevin Blake describing it as one of the most terrifying near misses he had witnessed in a horse race. Similarly, US racing journalist Ray Paulick commended the jockeys for their remarkable reactions in avoiding a potentially catastrophic collision with the ambulance.
The unexpected presence of the ambulance on the track led to disbelief among spectators, with many expressing astonishment at the commentator’s understated description of the event as a “little incident on the turn,” followed by acknowledgment that the ambulance was “out of position.”
Officials at the track have initiated an inquiry to determine the circumstances that led to the ambulance straying onto the race track, ensuring that such a dangerous situation is not repeated in the future.
