“Halle Berry Denies Ex’s Abuse Claims Amid Custody Battle”

Halle Berry refutes ex-husband Olivier Martinez’s accusations of physical abuse toward their 13-year-old son, Maceo, amidst an upcoming court date on Oct. 16 regarding custody and a restraining order.

Martinez is seeking full legal and physical custody of Maceo, along with a restraining order against Berry, alleging violent behavior towards their son on Sept. 26, as per court documents obtained by CBC News.

A temporary restraining order was granted by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Oct. 1, limiting Berry’s parenting time and mandating her to maintain a distance of 100 yards from Martinez until the hearing. The judge dismissed Martinez’s plea for monitoring Berry’s sobriety due to insufficient evidence.

Berry has refuted the allegations, labeling them as “completely untrue” and asserting that she has never mistreated Maceo in any form. She characterized the Sept. 26 incident as playful roughhousing that escalated into a disagreement, and she is seeking a return to their previous 50-50 custody arrangement.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed Maceo the same year, finalized their divorce in 2023 with a joint custody agreement.

In the legal saga, Martinez filed for a restraining order and sole custody on Oct. 1, citing an incident where Berry allegedly physically assaulted Maceo. Text messages between the former couple were referenced, including one where Berry expressed remorse for the previous night’s events.

Berry’s daughter Nahla, from a previous relationship, defended her mother in a declaration on Oct. 3, denying witnessing any abuse towards Maceo.

On Oct. 4, Berry’s legal team rebutted Martinez’s claims, pointing out past violations of court orders and utilizing video evidence to counter his narrative. Berry then submitted her own declaration on Oct. 5, denying the allegations and providing her version of events from Sept. 26, emphasizing her commitment to fighting domestic violence.

The next court session is set for Oct. 16, where the status of the temporary restrictions will be reviewed.
