A convicted criminal lashed out at a judge, hurling insults before being sentenced to 21 years in prison. This incident occurred during the sentencing of members of an organized criminal group who were collectively handed nearly 50 years in prison for their involvement in drug-related activities. Scott Howard and Anthony Nelson were identified as the leaders of a drug distribution network known as the “Rice Lane gang,” overseeing the supply of heroin and cocaine. Liam Duffy and Terry Riley were identified as key figures within this criminal operation.
Prosecutors revealed in court that the drug operations had been active since at least the end of 2022, with Duffy and Riley playing significant roles in managing the illicit activities. The court heard how Duffy was apprehended on April 17, 2023, after attempting to evade arrest by discarding an incriminating phone linked to the drug network.
Further investigations led to the recovery of a Skorpion submachine gun from a residence associated with the criminal group.
