“Deadly Car Explosion Rocks New Delhi Station”

An explosion involving a car occurred at a bustling station in New Delhi, resulting in the deaths of at least ten individuals and causing injuries to several others, as reported.

Swiftly responding to the incident, fire crews rushed to the location near Red Fort Metro Station, where a vehicle was destroyed by the blast’s impact. A video captured post-explosion depicted numerous burnt vehicles and scattered debris on the street, with authorities and medical personnel attending to the scene. The explosion triggered a substantial fire that resulted in damage to several other vehicles. Seven fire engines were dispatched to the site to combat the blaze.

Reports from local sources confirmed the death toll at ten individuals and noted multiple injuries. Numerous casualties were reportedly transported to Delhi’s LNJP hospital, according to ANI.

A resident who witnessed the flames from his residence described feeling fearful for his life upon hearing the explosion, which caused nearby residents to be knocked to the ground. Recounting the experience, local Rajdhar Pandey stated, “I observed the flames from my home and immediately went to investigate the cause.” He added, “There was a deafening explosion. I reside in close proximity.”

Speaking to ANI, a local store owner expressed astonishment at the intensity of the blast, stating, “I have never encountered such a loud explosion in my life.” He further shared, “I stumbled thrice due to the impact. It felt like a life-threatening situation for all of us.” Another witness mentioned, “As we approached, we witnessed body parts scattered on the road. The situation was chaotic, and many vehicles suffered damage.”

Authorities from Delhi police disclosed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the car explosion. AK Malik, Deputy Chief Fire Officer of New Delhi’s Fire Department, commented, “We received reports of a car blast near Chandni Chowk Metro Station. Immediate response was initiated, and seven units were dispatched to the scene. By 7:29 PM, the fire was brought under control. There is a likelihood of casualties in this incident, and all our teams are on-site.”

Situated near the Red Fort in Delhi, the Red Fort metro station attracts significant foot traffic due to its tourist appeal and link to the renowned Red Fort, a prominent landmark. The historic fort welcomed around 2.9 million visitors in the previous year.
