“Residents Want Street Name Change Amid Prince Andrew Scandal”

Residents of Prince Andrew Avenue in Australia are considering changing the street name due to the recent scandal involving Prince Andrew. Similar calls for renaming have been made in towns across the UK. The local council has confirmed that some residents have inquired about the process of renaming the street following Prince Andrew’s fall from grace.

Prince Andrew was stripped of his titles and removed from his royal residence by the king last month due to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Despite denying any allegations of wrongdoing related to Epstein, the disgraced royal has faced significant backlash.

Local councillor Michael Labrador expressed support for a name change, stating that honoring someone who has been disgraced is inappropriate. Tony George, a resident of Prince Andrew Avenue, accepted the potential name change, acknowledging the inevitability of the situation.

The Whittlesea Council spokesperson mentioned that a formal renaming process would require majority support from affected residents, as per the naming rules in Victoria. The council is currently discussing the next steps with residents who have shown interest in the name change but has not initiated the formal renaming process yet.

In recent developments, a US congressman suggested that Jeffrey Epstein may have trafficked more women to meet Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre. The congressman, Suhas Subramanyam, is part of an inquiry into the ‘Epstein Files’ and has called for Andrew to testify under oath about his knowledge of Epstein’s activities. Survivors of Epstein’s trafficking ring have provided crucial information to the committee conducting the investigation.
