Hot on the heels of Oasis’ recent UK tour dates, another iconic figure from the Britpop era is gearing up for their own tour. Following the impressive performances by the Gallagher brothers, fans of the genre are eagerly anticipating this latest announcement.
After a remarkable world premiere at this summer’s Big Feastival in front of a massive crowd of over 20,000 fans, Blur star Alex James is all set to take his Britpop Classical show on the road for its inaugural UK tour in March next year. The show promises to bring the beloved hits of the Britpop era to life with the accompaniment of a live orchestra.
The tour will cover various UK cities, including a stop at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, before moving on to locations like Manchester, Brighton, Newcastle, and Glasgow. Curated and performed by Alex James, the show highlights the most memorable songs from a golden age of British music.
Audiences can expect special renditions of classic tunes from bands such as Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass, and The Verve, enhanced by live band performances, guest vocalists, and the orchestral accompaniment of the London Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Joining Alex James onstage will be esteemed artists like Phil Daniels, Saffron from Republica, and Gary Stringer from Reef, with more guest performers yet to be revealed.
Reflecting on the upcoming tour, James remarked, “These songs hold a unique significance for people today, resonating even more with younger generations. Reviving them with a symphony orchestra, a talented band, some old friends, and special guests created an electrifying atmosphere at the Feastival, and I am thrilled to take this show on tour.”
Owen Kent, the Director of Events at RG Live assisting with the production, added, “The energy at Big Feastival was unparalleled, and the enthusiastic response from the audience made it evident that we have something extraordinary on our hands. Britpop Classical reinvents beloved songs in a powerful and exhilarating manner. Launching the tour at the Royal Albert Hall sets the stage for what we anticipate will be a standout show of 2026.”
This tour follows the success of Oasis this summer, where they were joined by Richard Ashcroft. The Gallagher brothers are also eyeing potential Oscars success with a documentary film chronicling their reunion tour, featuring intimate behind-the-scenes moments, including the reunion of Noel and Liam.
Speculation suggests that the siblings are optimistic about their chances of winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film and a similar accolade at the Baftas.
