A young boy, aged 4, underwent ear amputation following a brutal dog attack that landed him in the hospital for a week. Tracy Moore and her son, Roland Moore, were waiting for the school bus on November 20 when two seemingly friendly dogs approached them. The situation took a drastic turn when the dogs suddenly attacked Roland, biting his left ear severely. The responding officer described the boy’s ear as hanging from the side of his head.
A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist Roland’s family with legal fees, medical costs, and child therapy. The tragic incident occurred when the dogs, initially appearing friendly, turned aggressive as Roland stepped out to hug his mother. Despite efforts to save his ear through various treatments, including leech therapy, it had to be amputated just before Thanksgiving. Roland, now traumatized and fearful, faces a challenging road to recovery, both physically and emotionally.
The family’s plea for support aims to provide Roland with the necessary care and justice he deserves. Every contribution, regardless of size, will make a significant impact on their journey to healing. The Mirror has reached out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for comments.
