A man who returned to the UK in a small boat after being deported has been deported once again. The Home Office confirmed that the migrant, who was detained on both occasions he entered Britain, was flown back today. He was initially removed on September 19 but managed to return nearly a month later, on October 18.
Under the new ‘one in one out’ deal between the UK and France, a total of 94 individuals have been sent back to France. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated that attempting to re-enter the UK after being deported under the UK-France agreement is futile and a waste of resources.
The individual was swiftly identified through biometrics, detained, and promptly removed from the UK. Mahmood emphasized that any further attempts to return to the UK will result in deportation, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing the removal of illegal migrants and fortifying border security.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the man expressed his reasons for returning to the UK, citing safety concerns in France. He recounted his harrowing experiences with human traffickers in France, highlighting the dangerous conditions he faced.
A new agreement established in July enables the detention and deportation of individuals arriving in the UK via small boats back to France. In return, an equivalent number of asylum seekers with valid claims are sent in the opposite direction. The government aims to dissuade individuals from utilizing traffickers by increasing the number of returns under this deal.
