A man was fatally stabbed while trying to intervene in a fight during a knife attack. The victim, identified as Wayne Broadhurst, aged 49, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, with two others, including a 14-year-old boy, sustaining injuries in the incident.
Following the attack in Uxbridge, West London, on Monday, Afghan national Safi Dawood, 22, who arrived in the UK in 2020, is currently in police custody. Dawood, who was granted asylum and permission to stay in 2022, is facing charges of murder and attempted murder and is scheduled to appear in court today.
The victim, Mr. Broadhurst, was described as a valued member of Greener Ealing Ltd, a company providing environmental services to Ealing Council. The managing director, Katarina Pohancenikova, expressed condolences to Mr. Broadhurst’s family, friends, and colleagues, emphasizing his significant contributions to their work and the community they serve.
An image shared by Greener Ealing showed Mr. Broadhurst wearing a Liverpool FC hat, along with the company’s high-visibility gear. Residents hailed the bravery of individuals who came to the aid of the injured, ensuring the survival of a 45-year-old man who sustained severe injuries during the attack.
Safi Dawood, residing in Uxbridge, will face charges of murder and attempted murder at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, as confirmed by the Crown Prosecution Service. The prosecution emphasized the evidence gathered and the public interest in pursuing legal action, collaborating closely with the Metropolitan Police Service during the investigation.
