Maryam Dawas’ hometown, once famous for its fragrant roses and strawberries, now carries the heavy scent of devastation and loss. Born in Beit Lahia, a city north of Gaza City, Maryam’s life has been deeply impacted by the Israeli-Gaza conflict, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians. The ongoing conflict has left the region in ruins, with schools and hospitals reduced to rubble.

Maryam, who suffers from severe malnutrition and untreated 3C Marsh coeliac disease, is in urgent need of medical care that is not available in Gaza. Her deteriorating health, compounded by the lack of proper nutrition and medical resources, has left her family feeling helpless.

Efforts are being made to bring Maryam to the UK for the treatment she urgently requires. Despite the challenges they face, Maryam’s family remains hopeful as they navigate the complex process of seeking medical assistance abroad.
