Jeffrey Epstein reportedly claimed to have provided advice to Russian officials on how to handle Donald Trump before the US President’s crucial meeting with Vladimir Putin. This information was disclosed in a collection of 23,000 documents submitted to the US House Oversight Committee from Epstein’s estate following his death.
The documents revealed Epstein’s efforts to exert influence globally, including a 2018 email exchange with Thorbjørn Jagland, a former Prime Minister of Norway and Secretary General of the Council of Europe. In the email, Epstein suggested that Putin consult with him for insights, mentioning the late Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, who had previously engaged with Epstein on understanding Trump’s perspective.
Epstein’s attempt to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov coincided with Trump’s meeting with Putin in Helsinki. Subsequently, Epstein criticized Trump’s performance during the summit in correspondence with former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, indicating concerns about potential leverage Russia might have over Trump.
