A well-known radio program in Australia has been canceled due to a controversial incident involving Keith Urban. The 57-year-old Australian musician appeared on the Hayley & Max In The Morning show on the Australian Radio Network (ARN), hosted by Max Burford and Hayley Pearson for less than a year.
The interview occurred shortly before it was disclosed that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman had decided to end their nearly 20-year marriage, with the Hollywood actress filing for divorce. The conversation took a turn when Urban was questioned about Kidman’s intimate scenes with Zac Efron in their movie “A Family Affair.”
Upon being asked how he felt seeing his wife act alongside younger actors like Zac Efron, Urban abruptly ended the interview. A crew member mentioned that Urban and his team were not comfortable with the direction of the questioning and terminated the conversation.
Less than six months after the incident went viral, the radio station announced the final airing of the Mix102.3 show on December 12. A spokesperson indicated that in 2026, the station plans to introduce a new live and local morning program as part of a revamped station strategy focusing on distinctive content and significant moments.
This decision followed the recent cancellation of the Brisbane breakfast show “Robin, Kip & Corey Oates” by the network. The representative expressed gratitude for the effort, creativity, and dedication of the on-air team to the Brisbane audience during their tenure.
Details about the broadcaster’s future plans remain undisclosed, as hinted in an email obtained by Mediaweek. After the controversial incident involving Keith Urban, Max Burford, one of the show’s hosts, expressed concern about their relationship with the country music star and questioned if there was now animosity between them.
Additionally, Hayley Pearson, the co-host, commented that their line of questioning may have caused Urban to harbor negative feelings towards them. Urban’s sharp reaction to inquiries about his wife’s films occurred shortly after their 19th wedding anniversary.
The couple, who got married in Sydney in 2006 after meeting in Los Angeles in 2005, have two daughters aged 17 and 14. The divorce agreement includes a detailed parenting plan, with Kidman designated as the primary residential parent for 306 days annually, while Urban will have custody for the remaining 59 days. Both girls will continue to reside in Nashville, their long-term home.
The agreement stresses the importance of maintaining a loving and stable relationship with the children despite the divorce. It prohibits negative remarks about each other and encourages the children to maintain affection for both parents, fostering comfort in both households.
Reports indicate that neither party will seek child or spousal support as they both earn over $100,000 monthly. Assets, including royalties and copyrights, will be equitably divided, with each retaining possessions under their respective names.
The parenting agreement was signed by Urban on August 29 and by Kidman on September 6, suggesting that the separation had been planned well in advance of its public announcement. Tennessee law mandates a minimum 90-day period for the divorce to be finalized.
This was Urban’s first marriage and Kidman’s second, following her previous marriage to Tom Cruise with whom she shares two older children. Kidman emphasized the imperfection of relationships, cautioning against striving for perfection during a Netflix premiere last year.
