A men’s clothing brand based in the UK has closed down due to entering administration. Great Clothing Ltd, trading as Big Boys, specialized in offering plus-size clothing for men ranging from 2XL to 10XL. The company, situated in Leeds, employed an average of 12 staff members in 2025.
Chris Brooksbank from CB Business Recovery Ltd has been chosen as the administrator. A statement on the Big Boys website explains that the decision to cease trading was carefully considered due to ongoing financial challenges that couldn’t be overcome.
The company has engaged an insolvency practice, and their appointed Insolvency Practitioner will soon take charge as the administrator, overseeing the company’s operations without personal liability.
In other retail news, River Island is set to shut down at least 27 stores this month as part of a significant restructuring plan. Notable closures include branches in Brighton, Edinburgh Princes Street, Great Yarmouth, and Stockton-on-Tees, which ceased operations toward the end of 2025. The closure dates for other stores on the list, such as in Norwich, Norfolk, and Workington, Cumbria, are yet to be confirmed.
Additionally, River Island is reducing rents for 71 other shops as part of the restructure. The fashion retailer had 223 stores in the UK and Ireland when the rescue plan was presented in court in August.
Poundland is also undergoing restructuring, with plans to close 12 stores in January following approval from the High Court. The discount retailer had closed 57 stores by the end of September and is expected to reduce its total branches from 800 to around 650-700 through closures and lease expirations.
The budget chain is implementing a simplified pricing structure of £1, £2, and £3 in its UK stores, with around 60% of grocery items priced at £1, 20% at £2, and 20% at £3. Poundland has updated its website to allow only product browsing, discontinuing online purchases.
