“Woman Fatally Shot in Wales in Drug Gang Rivalry”

A court has been informed that a woman was fatally shot on a housing estate in Wales due to mistaken identity within a clash between rival drug factions. Joanne Penney, aged 40, was visiting a friend’s residence when a gunman targeted the doorstep. It is believed that the intended victim was the woman Joanne was staying with, who opened the door to the assailant.

The tragic incident occurred on March 9 this year at a flat in Talbot Green, Rhondda Cynon Taf. Despite immediate medical attention, Joanne succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The suspects, Marcus Huntley, Kristina Ginova, Joshua Gordon, Melissa Quailey-Dashper, Tony Porter, and Jordan Mills-Smith, are currently on trial at Cardiff Crown Court, all denying involvement in her murder.

The prosecution stated that the shooting stemmed from a rivalry between two drug gangs in the area. One gang, led by Joshua Gordon, known as Rico or Reece, clashed with a group led by Daniel ‘Jimmy’ Joseph upon expanding operations to South Wales. The fatal shooting took place when Melissa Quailey-Dashper, Marcus Huntley, and Jordan Mills-Smith approached the flat, with Huntley firing the fatal shot.

It is alleged that each of the accused, including Gordon, Huntley, Mills-Smith, Quailey-Dashper, Ginova, and Porter, played a role in Joanne Penney’s murder. The court heard that the intended target was Joanne’s friend, who shares similar characteristics with her. The trial is ongoing.
