“Ukrainian Troops Outsmarting Russian Forces in Ongoing Conflict”

Ukraine is relying on Russian forces once again to overextend themselves without proper support, a strategy that has been observed multiple times during the ongoing conflict. In the lead-up to the 2022 invasion, Ukrainian soldiers in the Donbas region were well aware of their orders as they anticipated the Russian offensive.

Despite being outnumbered and lacking resources, Ukrainian troops understood the importance of strategic thinking. They were instructed to defend their positions initially but to allow Russian forces to advance if they felt overwhelmed. The plan was straightforward: “We will have to let them in and then flank their positions to eliminate them,” as one soldier explained.

This tactic has proven effective in many instances, with Russia appearing to once again be stretching itself too thin and prematurely celebrating victories. Reports suggest that Moscow’s troops have made gains in Pokrovsk, with potentially hundreds already inside the contested city.

While capturing Pokrovsk could serve as a crucial logistics hub for further advances into Ukraine, Russia’s progress has been slow amid corruption and disrupted supply chains caused by Ukrainian drone strikes. Ukrainian forces have consistently demonstrated their ability to outmaneuver Russian troops on the battlefield and push them back.

Intelligence from Ukraine indicates that Russia’s efforts to reinforce its troops in Ukraine have encountered obstacles, especially in economically challenged and remote regions like the Republic of Sakha. Poor pay and working conditions have dissuaded many potential recruits, leading to recruitment centers falling short of Moscow’s targets by about 40%.

Ukraine’s resilience in the face of the inept Russian military has been a hallmark of the conflict. Last week, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated unwavering British support for Ukraine in defending against Russia’s invasion marked by war crimes and atrocities.

Throughout the war, Ukraine has adeptly adapted to changing circumstances, utilizing advanced drones and developing missile technology when necessary. The inability of Russian commanders to provide accurate assessments of their progress to President Putin, resulting in fleeting gains that are often reversed quickly, may ultimately lead to their downfall.
