A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition at Liverpool Hospital after being involved in a car crash during a police pursuit in Sydney’s south-west. The incident occurred around 11 pm on Wednesday, December 10. The driver, also 21, and another woman in the car were hospitalized in serious conditions.
New South Wales Police reported that they spotted a Ford Ranger allegedly speeding through a red light while on patrol. After the driver failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated but quickly terminated due to safety concerns.
An official statement from the police mentioned, “A critical incident investigation has been launched following a crash during a police pursuit in Sydney south-west. The pursuit began when a Ford Ranger was seen driving recklessly through a red light. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, a pursuit ensued but was ended shortly after due to safety reasons. The vehicle was later involved in a collision at an intersection.”
The female passenger in the car was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital in critical condition. The driver and another woman in the car were also hospitalized in serious conditions. The driver of the stolen vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is expected to be brought into custody upon release.
