Teenage Boy Survives Crocodile ‘Death Roll’ Attack

A teenage boy was viciously attacked by a crocodile while he was fishing with his friends. The 14-year-old, part of a group of three non-local individuals, was fishing in waist-deep water when the incident occurred. Miraculously, he survived a ‘death roll,’ a predatory technique where the crocodile grips its prey and rotates to drown it.

After the attack, the boy was rushed to a nearby hotel for initial treatment on his leg and abdomen wounds. Subsequently, he was airlifted to Cairns Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition on Sunday evening. The alarming incident took place 100km north of Cairns in Far North Queensland, Australia, on a Saturday afternoon.

According to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson, “A male teenager with leg and abdominal wounds was airlifted to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition following a reported crocodile attack on a public beach.” This incident follows a tragic event where a tourist was fatally attacked by a crocodile at a game reserve in South Africa.

The victim, a 56-year-old man, ignored warning signs at the Bonamanzi Game Reserve and was dragged into the Hluhluwe River by a 12-foot crocodile. Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene as chaotic, with the crocodile overpowering the man despite his desperate attempts to fend it off. Sadly, the man disappeared under the water and was later found deceased.

The victim, identified as a 56-year-old South African man from Richards Bay, had reportedly booked a weekend stay with his family at the reserve. The reserve offers live feeding experiences for guests, although it is unclear if this activity was available on the day of the attack.
