After being ousted from the W Canadian Championship, the Montreal Roses have decided to part ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The announcement of Rositoiu’s dismissal was made by the club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, in a press release on Thursday morning. Pichon expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of the decision, the statement conveyed respect for Rositoiu’s professionalism while emphasizing the necessity for a fresh approach to navigate the remainder of the season and propel the club’s progress. Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in the ongoing regular season.
Rositoiu assumed the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. Meanwhile, Maryse Bard-Martel has been appointed as the interim head coach as the club deliberates on selecting a permanent successor for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel, who previously served as the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will be in charge for the upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
