“Man Arrested for Train Stabbing Faces Attempted Murder Charges”

A man named Anthony Williams, aged 32, has been arrested and charged in connection with a violent stabbing incident on a train in Huntington that resulted in eleven individuals sustaining injuries. The British Transport Police (BTP) disclosed that Williams, residing on Langford Road in Peterborough, faces multiple charges, including ten counts of attempted murder, one count of causing bodily harm, and one count of possessing a bladed weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court at Peterborough Magistrates this morning. Additionally, Williams is accused of another attempted murder and possession of a bladed article related to a separate occurrence at Pontoon Dock DLR station in London on November 1.

The attack occurred on board the 6:25 pm LNER service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, prompting the train to make an unscheduled stop in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, after approximately an hour into the journey. British Transport Police mentioned that two suspects were swiftly apprehended on the train within eight minutes of authorities being notified, with one individual reportedly subdued by a Taser for wielding a knife.

Subsequent to the incident, eleven victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, with four individuals subsequently discharged. Two patients, including a courageous train staff member, are in critical condition. Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy emphasized the importance of the ongoing criminal investigation and the support provided to the victims by the British Transport Police.

Tracy Easton, chief crown prosecutor for CPS Direct, announced the decision to prosecute Anthony Williams on charges of eleven counts of attempted murder, one count of bodily harm, and two counts of possessing a bladed article in connection with the train incident. The Crown Prosecution Service collaborated closely with British Transport Police to evaluate a substantial amount of evidence, including CCTV footage, to support the case. The number of charges may be subject to change as the investigation progresses. The CPS acknowledged the profound impact of the train incident and expressed sympathy for all those affected.
