Luke Littler, at just 19 years old, secured the World Masters title and was praised by Luke Humphries as “the greatest darts player ever.” Littler defeated Humphries 6-5, showcasing exceptional skills and claiming his 11th major PDC title along with the £100,000 prize.
With a remarkable 104.72 average and hitting 13 maximums in Milton Keynes, Littler dominated the competition, defeating Josh Rock in the quarter-finals and narrowly edging out Gerwyn Price 5-4 in the semi-final before clinching the final. His success places him as the joint third most successful darts player in history, tied with James Wade and trailing only Michael van Gerwen (48) and Phil Taylor (79) in total titles won.
To complete his collection of PDC ranked titles, Littler only needs to win the European Championship, a goal well within his reach given his exceptional performance. Despite Humphries’ higher average of 105.51 and leading 5-4 in the match, Littler rallied to secure victory with resilience and determination.
Reflecting on his win, Littler acknowledged the pressure and challenges faced, emphasizing the importance of focus and perseverance in every game. With an impressive display in the final match, including a 153 checkout and two 121 finishes, Littler entertained the audience at Arena MK. Humphries, despite not winning, remained positive about his performance and the overall tournament experience.
Both Littler and Humphries continue to dominate the darts scene, with Littler demonstrating an edge in TV final victories over Humphries from the previous season.
