A project manager shared her harrowing encounter with a knife-wielding assailant on a London-bound LNER Azuma train. Dayna Arnold, accompanied by her partner Andy Gray, witnessed the terrifying incident unfold in Coach J, where the attacker went on an eight-minute rampage, leaving two individuals critically injured.
Separated from her partner during the chaos, Dayna pleaded for her life as the assailant brandished a 6-inch kitchen knife at her. Despite her pleas, the attacker coldly stated, “The devil is not going to win.”
Reflecting on the traumatic event, Dayna expressed gratitude for narrowly escaping harm and acknowledged the randomness of their seating that potentially saved their lives. Andy, still bearing traces of the victim’s blood on his jumper, recounted the moment they heard screams and saw the violence escalate shortly after departing from Peterborough station.
Amid the panic, Andy witnessed the knife-wielding attacker injuring a young man, prompting him to provide immediate aid by creating a makeshift tourniquet to stem the bleeding. The injured victim pleaded for help, fearing for his life as Andy rushed to assist him.
Following the ordeal, Dayna and Andy sought refuge at a nearby pub and later returned to Huntingdon station to continue their journey. Andy, visibly shaken by the incident, expressed hope that their actions had contributed to saving the life of the critically wounded victim.
