A mother was shocked to find what she believed to be a slug in the milk carton she had been using for herself and her children. Beth Rees, a 24-year-old from Exeter, received a Tesco food delivery on October 17. She used the milk carton on Sunday and later found a slimy slug-like creature in the milk while preparing breakfast for her three-year-old and eight-month-old children on Wednesday. Beth described the creature as bloated from being in the milk and covered in thick slime.
Expressing her disgust, Beth shared her experience with Devon Live, mentioning how it made her sick and led her to throw away the pan used to prepare the children’s breakfast. Despite her attempts to contact Tesco, Beth faced challenges reaching them and expressed concern about her children consuming the contaminated milk.
After contacting Tesco via WhatsApp and sending them a photo as proof, Beth was disappointed by their response, stating that Tesco seemed indifferent to the situation. Tesco offered a £25 voucher as an apology, but Beth was more concerned about the safety of other customers who might encounter similar issues.
Tesco assured that they uphold stringent quality checks on their milk products and would investigate the matter by requesting the return of the contaminated product. A Tesco spokesperson emphasized their commitment to quality control and urged customers to return products for a full refund in case of complaints.
Beth’s main worry remained the lack of action taken by Tesco to prevent similar incidents in the future, stressing the importance of ensuring the safety of all customers.
