A family devastated by a house fire shared their heart-wrenching experience. Nathan Abbott and Katie Craddock were at a charity event when they learned their home in Hyde, Cheshire, was engulfed in flames. Rushing back, they found their property completely destroyed.
Katie described the moment she received a call about the fire and saw their dog, Teddy, outside. Teddy needed resuscitation but survived. The house was Katie’s childhood home where they lived with their children: Rebecca, 12, who has partial sight, Emily, eight, Harley, seven, who has autism, and Freddy, two.
The fire, believed to have started from a new fridge bought in 2021, was the first time the family had left the house in a year. Nathan expressed the terror of the situation, realizing the potential danger if they had been home.
With Christmas approaching, gifts for the kids were lost, and plans for a Disneyland trip were uncertain. The family returned to find their belongings charred, with little salvageable. The community has come together, setting up a GoFundMe to support them in rebuilding.
Neighbors and locals have shown immense support during this challenging time. The family faces the daunting task of starting anew after the devastating fire.
