“Former Beauty Queen Sentenced to Life for Toddler’s Death”

Former beauty pageant winner, Trinity Poague, has been handed a life sentence for the tragic death of her boyfriend’s 18-month-old son, showing visible distress during the court proceedings. The prosecution claimed that Poague’s actions were driven by jealousy, as she desired to have her own child with her partner. Poague, 19, was convicted of two counts of felony murder at the South Western Circuit Court in Georgia after causing fatal injuries to the toddler in 2024.

Prior to the incident, Poague held the title of Miss Donalsonville in 2024, which was revoked following her involvement in the child’s demise. The toddler was rushed to Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia, where despite efforts to save his life, he tragically passed away in the emergency room.

Authorities disclosed that Poague inflicted severe blunt-force trauma to the child’s head and torso before his death. Witnesses from Poague’s college dorm reported hearing prolonged cries from the infant, followed by an abrupt silence on the day of the tragedy. Lilly Waterman, a dorm resident, stated that everyone was puzzled by the sudden cessation of the baby’s cries.

In a revealing text message sent to her roommate, Poague expressed her discontent with the situation, indicating strained relations with her boyfriend. After a brief deliberation, the jury found Poague guilty of multiple charges, including two counts of felony murder and aggravated battery. Judge W. James Sizemore Jr sentenced her to life in prison, emphasizing the gravity of her actions.

Despite Poague’s composed demeanor during sentencing, she broke down upon hearing the jury’s verdict. In addition to the life sentence for the murder of JD Willams, she received a concurrent 20-year sentence in state prison.
