Gail’s bakery chain has announced that ten of its bakery outlets will remain open for business on Christmas Day. Additionally, customers visiting these locations on December 25 will receive complimentary mince pies. All Gail’s bakeries will maintain regular operating hours on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
In a social media update on Instagram, Gail’s mentioned, “For those out and about on Christmas Day, a few of our bakeries will be open. A spot for a cup of coffee, a freshly baked loaf, or a friendly face on a tranquil morning. And if you drop by, we’ll treat you to a mince pie as a token of appreciation to those spending part of the day with us (while supplies last).”
The bakery chain’s expansion plans include opening 40 new stores in England, with a focus on locations outside of London. Gail’s recently reported a revenue of £278 million for the fiscal year ending February 2025, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. Despite the revenue growth, pre-tax losses rose to £7.8 million due to operational expenses and staffing costs related to new store openings.
Gail’s employs over 4,000 staff members, with an increase of about 500 employees compared to the previous year following recruitment efforts. The company’s product range includes a variety of baked goods, with prices starting at around £4.80 for its sourdough loaves. Gail’s emphasized the importance of providing innovative and high-quality food in their neighborhood bakeries to sustain growth in a competitive market.
