Search and rescue authorities have located an aircraft in the Kawartha Lakes area where a pilot went missing after a flight last week. The Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) announced on social media that a plane was discovered on Wolf Lake in Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, approximately a 45-minute drive north of the Kawartha Lakes region. The case has been handed over to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as a missing person’s investigation, according to the JRCC. Although not explicitly stated, it is uncertain if the aircraft belonged to the missing 73-year-old pilot known as David.
Reported by Durham police, David departed from Oshawa Airport in the airplane at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and was scheduled to return by 9:30 a.m. He typically flies in the area south of Kawartha Lakes township and north of Lake Scugog.
The Ontario Provincial Police had previously described the aircraft as a small blue homemade plane with “FOFZ” markings on its tail. David, an experienced pilot standing at five feet seven inches with a slender physique, has black grey hair and a moustache.
