The Canadian national women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory against the Mexican team in Guadalajara on Thursday evening. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, contributing to their 3-0 record, while Syla Swords added 17 points to the scoreboard. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
Canada is now set to face New Zealand in the upcoming semifinals on Saturday, while the host team will compete against Brazil. The tournament’s championship game is scheduled for Sunday. The victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
