The UK’s top lawyer, Richard Hermer, who is Jewish, has called on Nigel Farage to apologize for alleged racist remarks made during his school years. Around 20 individuals have come forward claiming to have been victims or witnesses of the Reform UK leader’s offensive behavior between the ages of 13 and 18.
In response to the allegations, Lord Hermer stated that Farage’s denials do not hold credibility, emphasizing the need for him to address concerns from the Jewish community and offer apologies to those deeply hurt by his actions. The Attorney General stressed the importance of rejecting all forms of racism to uphold the country’s values.
Farage has refuted the decades-old claims, asserting that he would never racially insult anyone in a hurtful manner. Reform UK has vehemently denied the accusations, labeling them as part of a smear campaign against their party leader.
Former classmates from Dulwich College have accused Farage of making pro-Hitler comments, joking about gas chambers, and discriminating against individuals based on their skin color during his school days. Testimonies from individuals like award-winning director Peter Ettedgui highlighted instances where Farage allegedly expressed disturbing sentiments.
Despite the mounting accusations, Farage has maintained his innocence, pointing out the timing of the allegations coinciding with his party’s increasing popularity in polls. He emphasized his track record in combating extremism and far-right ideologies throughout his career.
