“Meghan Markle Faces Backlash Over Royal-Themed Product Release”

Meghan Markle is facing criticism over her latest product release under the As Ever brand. The Duchess of Sussex has been accused of leveraging her royal connections in the marketing campaign. Fans were not entirely pleased with the unveiling of the new item, which had been teased throughout the week.

In a video posted on Instagram, Meghan was depicted working on her laptop at her desk, accompanied by one of her new $64 candles and a blue notebook bearing the royal cypher – a symbol with the letter M topped by a crown. This monogram was initially revealed before Meghan’s marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, but some fans expressed dissatisfaction with its use after Meghan and Harry stepped back from their royal roles in 2020.

Following their move to Montecito and withdrawal from royal duties, Meghan’s decision to feature the royal symbol in her latest product line sparked backlash online. Criticism arose on platforms like Twitter, with users questioning the constant display of the royal cypher on various items.

Meghan’s As Ever website describes the latest product as capturing the essence of an English countryside day and reminiscing about her wedding day in Windsor. The recent additions to the brand, including a new wine launch, signify a significant expansion of Meghan’s lifestyle brand, which was established in March 2025, focusing on seasonal gifting.

The new line introduces ceramic scented candles, with the Christmas collection featuring two candles named after important dates in the Duchess’s life. One candle, named 519, pays homage to Harry and Meghan’s wedding day with scents of Moroccan mint and white tea. The second candle, No. 084, commemorates Meghan’s birthday with hints of sandalwood, lotus, and poppy.

During her appearance at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington DC, Meghan shared her excitement about future product releases, expressing her desire to grow her business rapidly.
