A woman involved in an extramarital affair with her former Royal Marine partner was apprehended by the police while laughing. The pair conspired to fabricate a suicide letter from her husband as part of a sinister murder scheme.
Michelle Mills, aged 46, and her lover Geraint Berry, also 46, were found guilty of devising a twisted plan to eliminate Christopher Mills in order to progress their three-month affair. The court revealed that they exchanged 2,301 messages discussing methods such as smothering him with a pillow, poisoning his food, or staging a fake armed attack at their caravan in Cenarth, Carmarthenshire.
The jury discovered that a false suicide note addressed to “Dear Bab” was presented during the trial, where the husband allegedly confessed to abusive behavior. However, it was later exposed as a forgery. Further evidence included crime scene photos showing Berry preparing weapons and gear for the planned attack, which was scheduled shortly after a substantial life insurance policy payout for Mr. Mills.
Prosecutors detailed how Berry, fueled by jealousy and incited by Mills, grew increasingly fixated on harming Christopher. Messages from Berry indicated intentions to kill Mr. Mills and make it appear as suicide. Following a failed attack on Mr. Mills, Berry and his accomplice were captured by authorities with incriminating items in their possession.
Mills claimed that she viewed the plot as a fantasy and never intended to harm her husband, asserting that it was solely a means to escape an unhappy marriage. Mr. Mills, unaware of his wife’s affair, expressed shock upon learning about the betrayal and refuted claims of domestic violence against him.
The trio, including Berry, Thomas, and Mills, denied charges of conspiracy to commit murder. Sentencing was postponed to December 19, with both defendants facing potential imprisonment for up to five years.
