Virgin Media is introducing a significant upgrade to its TV platform, providing customers with three new bonus channels at no extra cost. These channels, brought by Rakuten, fall under the category of FAST channels, offering free ad-supported streaming television content. The first addition is Rakuten TV Drama on Channel 462, featuring popular movies like The Big Short, Gosford Park, and JFK. Following that is Rakuten TV Comedy on Channel 463, showcasing films such as Big Momma’s House, The Internship, and Bedazzled. Lastly, viewers can enjoy Rakuten TV: Sci Fi on Channel 464, catering to fans of science fiction content.
This enhancement will be automatically available on Virgin TV 360 and Flex, requiring no action from customers. The new channels can be easily accessed through Virgin Media’s TV guide and are searchable via voice control for convenience. David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, emphasized the value and quality of the new streaming channels, offering a diverse range of entertainment options, including Hollywood blockbusters, without any additional charges.
With this update, Virgin TV customers now have access to a total of 40 FAST channels, enriching their viewing experience. While a monthly subscription fee is necessary for Virgin Media TV access, the channel lineup now surpasses what is offered by free services.
