“Vandal Caught on CCTV Blowing Kisses Amid Crime Spike”

A vandal in Barnstaple, North Devon, caused damage to a shop and was captured on CCTV blowing kisses to a woman. The incident, which took place at around 11:45 pm on Saturday, October 11th, involved the young man seen wearing green tracksuit bottoms and a black coat, carrying a black handbag. In the video, he is seen removing and throwing signs from the shop front, smiling, and blowing a kiss before discarding the sign, scattering papers across the street.

Claire Weston, the shop owner, expressed outrage at the incident, criticizing the lack of consequences for such behavior. Local residents also condemned the vandal’s actions, with one calling him “entitled” and in need of discipline. Devon and Cornwall Police have been contacted for a statement.

The previous day, a serious assault occurred in Barnstaple’s Queen Street, involving a group attacking a young man in his early 20s, causing injuries including fractured ribs and a punctured lung. Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Crime data from Police.UK for August in the Barnstaple Central Town area showed an increase in reported crimes compared to previous years, with a notable rise in shoplifting, violence, anti-social behavior, and other offenses. Barnstaple, located near popular coastal destinations, has seen a surge in criminal activities, prompting concerns among residents and authorities.
